3rd Great Grandparents

Originally it was thought that Harriett Webb was the mother of Charles Webb although there was never any proof to support that fact. After talking to another relative I managed to obtain a transcription of an indentureship for Charles Webb that states that his mother is Hannah Webb of Brighton.

This Indenture witness that Charles Webb the son of Hannah Webb of Brighton in the County of Sussex by and with the consent and testified approbation of his said mother by her execution hereof doth put himself apprentice to William Eastwood of Franfield in the said County of Sussex wheelwright to learn his art and with him after the manner of an Apprentice to serve from the first day of January now past unto the full end and term of four years from thence next following to be hilly complete and ended. And for the
true performance of all and every the said Covenants and Agreements either of the said Parties bindeth himself and herself unto the other by these present in witness where of the Parties above named to these Indentures interchangeably have put their hands and seals the fifth day of February and in the eleventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord 1848.

Hannah can be found in the 1841 census working in Gloucester Place in Brighton and then in 1851 at 77 Grand Parade in Brighton. Both times she is working with Phillis Webb of Westfield a daughter of John & Sarah Webb. Hannah is also of Westfield so I am assuming for the minute that she is also their daughter.

She died in 1859 due to an inflammation of the brain.
